A Crazy Week...

As you can see from my lack of posts...I have been swamped this week.  I homeschool my children and I am currently enrolled in full-time college.  My own homework killed me this week.  Ugh!

I did have just a few moments to make this cute purse.  Check it out!

Thoughtful Thursday--Quote Of The Day

Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.

- Abraham Lincoln

Most people would rather be certain they’re miserable, than risk being happy.

- Robert Anthony

I agree with both of these quotes.  The bottom line is--Happiness Is A Choice We Make.

5 Ways--To Keep the Kids Busy

  1. Go to the library & read.
  2. Go to the park.
  3. Stage your own scavenger hunt (this is also a great birthday party idea).
  4. Hide and seek with an item.  Hide an item, such as a ball of rolled up socks or a potato.  Then, they try to figure out where it is.  This is similar to an Easter Egg Hunt, but only one item is hidden.
  5. Help the kids make a dream collage.  They each have one piece of poster board (or whatever you can find).  Then, they cut out magazine pictures of items that represent what they want in their future.  It could be toys, video games, vacations, pictures of a their future career aspirations, inspirational quotes, or just pictures that look cool.

5 Ways--To Reuse Empty Cereal Boxes

My family generates at least 1-2 empty cereal boxes a day.  So, I feel great when I am able to do something beneficial with them.

First of all, cut open the seams of the cereal box.  The box should look rectangular and ready to use.

  1. Use it as a paint pallet to mix colors and have handy for the kids art projects.
  2. Create a picture on it.  Use it to color on or paint on.
  3. Make stencils with it.  I even use my CRICUT to make stencils.  You can also cut your own.
  4. Keep the box in one long piece to use as protective cover during messy projects (play doh, paint, etc)
  5. Cut the boxes in shapes, cover them in fabric, make your own notepads, or note pad covers.

Got Ladybugs?

I love ladybugs, and I had no idea that some species were dwindling.  Check out this story about the need for ladybug breeding colonies.  The next time you see a ladybug, ask yourself if it has 7 or 9 spots.

Very interesting...
